PM Modi Pays Tribute to Ratan Tata: It has been one month since Ratan Tata, the renowned industrialist and philanthropist, passed away on October 9 at the age of 86. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a heartfelt tribute to the beloved businessman, reflecting on Tata’s extraordinary impact on India’s industry, society, and the world.

Modi expressed that the absence of Ratan Tata is felt deeply by everyone, from seasoned industrialists to young entrepreneurs, professionals, and those passionate about social causes like the environment and philanthropy. The Prime Minister mentioned that Tata's loss has affected people from all walks of life, including the youth, who saw him as a role model. Modi pointed out that Ratan Tata’s life showed that dreams are worth pursuing and success can be achieved with both compassion and humility.

Ratan Tata's Legacy in Indian Business

Ratan Tata was the face of the Tata Group, one of India’s largest and most respected conglomerates. Under his leadership, the company grew to become internationally recognized, with an annual revenue surpassing $100 billion. Prime Minister Modi highlighted that Tata represented the finest traditions of Indian business, built on integrity, excellence, and service. He added that, despite Tata's massive achievements, he remained humble and approachable, always choosing to stay grounded.

Modi praised Ratan Tata for championing India’s startup ecosystem. Tata was known for supporting young entrepreneurs and recognizing their potential to shape India’s future. Modi remarked that Ratan Tata’s startup investments empowered a new generation of dreamers, encouraging them to take bold risks. This culture of innovation, he said, would continue to have a lasting positive impact on India for years to come.

Compassion Beyond Business: A Love for Animals

Ratan Tata’s influence, however, was not confined to business. He was also known for his deep compassion for animals. Prime Minister Modi spoke of Tata's love for all living beings and his tireless efforts in supporting animal welfare. Modi described how Tata's greatness extended beyond the boardroom to making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the environment.

Patriotism and Crisis Leadership

Ratan Tata’s patriotism was particularly evident during times of national crisis. Modi recalled how, after the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Tata took the quick and courageous step to reopen the Taj Hotel. This act, according to Modi, sent a powerful message to the nation that India stood united against terrorism. Tata's leadership during such difficult times will always be remembered as a symbol of strength and resilience.

A Personal Connection

Prime Minister Modi shared a personal connection with Ratan Tata, saying he had the privilege of knowing him closely over the years. He fondly recalled their collaboration, especially during the inauguration of an aircraft complex in Vadodara, which Tata had initiated. Modi mentioned that Tata’s absence was deeply felt during this occasion, as the nation had lost a great leader.

Support for Swachh Bharat Mission and Healthcare

Modi also reflected on Tata's strong support for the Swachh Bharat Mission, a nationwide movement aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene. Tata was one of its most vocal advocates, understanding that sanitation was key to India’s progress. Modi recalled that one of Tata’s final public appearances was in early October when he recorded a heartfelt message celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Healthcare, especially cancer care, was another cause close to Ratan Tata's heart. Modi reminisced about their joint effort to inaugurate cancer hospitals in Assam, where Tata had expressed his desire to dedicate his final years to improving healthcare in India.

A Vision for a Better India

Prime Minister Modi concluded his tribute by describing Ratan Tata’s vision for a society where businesses work for the greater good and every individual’s potential is recognized. He said that Tata had shown India that true progress is not just about economic success but also about the well-being and happiness of all citizens.
