PM Modi Nigeria Visit: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Nigeria on the first day of his three-day foreign tour. The special thing is that after 17 years an Indian Prime Minister has reached Nigeria, where he was given a grand welcome.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a three-nation tour. He is currently in Nigeria.  While today PM Modi met Nigeria President Ahmed Tinubu.

During this, PM Modi discussed promoting partnership between the two countries in various fields including trade, investment and digital public infrastructure. Many agreements were signed between the two sides.

PM gets Nigeria's national honor

The PM Modi said that we have been working together and will continue to do so to deal with challenges like terrorism, separatism. Thank you for taking care of Indians living in Nigeria. I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for giving Nigeria's national honor. This is an honor for 140 crore Indians. This is an honor for our relations.

Visit of an Indian PM to Nigeria after 17 years

In the meanwhile, PM reached Abuja, the capital of Nigeria on Sunday morning. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria after a gap of 17 years. The Prime Minister was formally welcomed at the President's residence, after which he held a meeting with Tinubu. Modi is in Nigeria as part of a three-nation visit.

PM will go from Abuja to Brazil to attend the G-20 summit. His final destination will be Guyana.

Meeting with the President of Nigeria

After meeting the President of Nigeria, PM Modi wrote on his X handle, "A very meaningful discussion was held with President Tinubu. We talked about giving further impetus to our strategic partnership. There are immense possibilities to further expand relations in defense, energy, technology, trade, health, education.

Companies of India will get benefit

Even though the import-export figures between India and Nigeria are not big, the two countries have a strong relationship. But with this visit of PM Modi, it can be expected that the doors will open for Indian companies in sectors like infra, defense, mining in Nigeria.

India & Nigeria are working together to deal with challenges

Meanwhile PM Narendra Modi said, we are working together to deal with challenges like terrorism, separatism, piracy and drug trafficking. We will continue this with more strength in the times to come. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, I am confident that our talks today will add a new chapter to our relations. Together we will continue to highlight the priorities of the Global South at the global level, and we will get success.

PM expressed grief over the loss of life and property due to floods

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, on behalf of 140 crore Indians, I express my condolences on the loss of life and property due to the floods in Nigeria last month. India is sending 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid in support of your relief work.

The Prime Minister said, I express my gratitude for your personal commitment to strengthen the strategic relations between India and Nigeria. I am happy that Nigeria attended the G-20 summit as a guest country for the first time under India's presidency last year. It is a matter of joy that Nigeria has been given the status of a partner country in BRICS.
