PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a new underground Metro corridor in Pune, connecting Civil Court to Swargate, on September 26. This event will also mark the laying of the foundation stone for an elevated Metro route.
Enhanced Commuting Experience
With this new underground line, Pune Metro will extend its services from District Court to Swargate, passing through Budhwar Peth and Manda stations. This development aims to provide hassle-free commuting for lakhs of passengers. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted that 3.5 lakh people utilized the Metro during the recent Ganpati festival, showcasing its growing popularity.
Details of the Pune Metro Route
The PCMC-Swargate corridor will span 17.4 kilometers and include 14 stations, with the segment between District Court and Swargate becoming operational on September 26. Additionally, the government plans to introduce two extensions: one from PCMC to Nigdi and another from Swargate to Katraj.
Future Connectivity
One entrance of the Swargate Metro station is proposed at Ganesh Kala Mandir, aimed at accommodating the influx of visitors from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
