PM Modi Welcomes New Calf 'Deepjyoti: 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a heartwarming video on Saturday, introducing the newest member of his family at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg—an adorable calf named Deepjyoti. In the video, PM Modi is seen with the calf, which has a distinct symbol resembling light on its forehead.

Symbolic Importance of the Calf

In a post shared on social media, PM Modi welcomed the calf, emphasizing the significance of cows in Indian culture. He began the post with the phrase “Gaav: Sarvasukha Prada,” meaning that cows bring prosperity and happiness. He mentioned that the calf was born to a cow at his residence and named it Deepjyoti about the light-like symbol on its forehead.

The video showcases PM Modi performing a small ceremony, garlanding the calf in front of a statue of Goddess Durga. He can also be seen playing with the calf, showing affection by caressing and kissing it. The post also includes images of PM Modi spending time with Deepjyoti at his residence, sitting with the calf and taking it out to the garden.

PM Modi's Bond with Animals

PM Modi’s love for animals is well-known. He has been photographed with various creatures, including cows and peacocks. Earlier this year, during the Pongal/Makar Sankranti festival, PM Modi was seen offering fodder to six cows from the Punganur breed, a unique indigenous breed native to Andhra Pradesh's Rayalaseema region. These small, dwarf-sized cattle are the shortest-humped cattle in the world, and they are believed to reside permanently at the Prime Minister's residence.

Indigenous Punganur Breed

The Punganur cows, native to places like Punganoor, Vayalapadu, Madanapalli, and Palamaneer in Andhra Pradesh, are notable for their small size, which makes them easy to keep at home. These cows are also considered special due to their rarity and significance in Indian farming culture.
