Kardile, 67, was a seasoned political figure in Ahmednagar district, and his passing has left a deep void in regional politics.

Shivaji Kardile 's Political Journey

Starting as a local leader, Shivaji Kardile built his reputation from the grassroots level. A milk businessman by profession, he began his political career through the Local Self-Government Organization and served as Sarpanch of Burhannagar. In 1995, he was elected as an Independent MLA from the Nagar-Nevasa Assembly constituency, later gaining the support of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance.

Ministerial Role and NCP Entry

During the late 1990s, Kardile contested again in 1999 and served as Minister of State for Fisheries and Rural Development. In 2004, he joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and won the Nagar-Nevasa seat under its banner, actively contributing to irrigation and rural development initiatives in Ahmednagar.

Joining the BJP and Rise to Prominence

In 2009, Kardile switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested from the Rahuri constituency. His leadership gained momentum when he won the 2014 Assembly elections, becoming a key BJP figure in the district. Although he faced defeat in 2019, he remained an influential personality in Ahilyanagar politics.

Personal and Political Connections

Kardile’s family ties also kept him in the spotlight. He was the father-in-law of NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap, who is the son-in-law of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. His death comes just months after the passing of Arun Jagtap, another prominent figure in Ahmednagar politics, marking an emotional chapter for both families.

Legacy of Leadership

Known for his business ventures and cooperative initiatives, Kardile’s influence went beyond politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had even held a campaign rally for him during the 2014 elections. His contribution to rural growth, milk cooperatives, and local governance will be remembered as part of his enduring legacy.
