Rain Alert! IMD Predicts Moderate to Heavy Showers in the Coming Days
Rain Alert! A cyclonic circulation over Marathwada, Maharashtra, and surrounding areas is likely to cause moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions. This system, along with two related weather patterns, is expected to bring cloudy skies and rain for at least two days.

IMD Extends Yellow Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a yellow alert for March 31, April 1, and April 2. Now, it has been extended to April 3, as widespread showers are expected on April 1 and 2, with scattered rainfall on April 3.
Regions Recording Maximum Rainfall
In a 24-hour period till the morning of March 25, several areas received significant rainfall:
Dharbandora – 26.8mm
Sanquelim – 24.2mm
Valpoi – 22.4mm
Sanguem – 18.2mm
Other regions also recorded light to moderate rain.
Thunderstorms & Strong Winds Expected
Apart from rainfall, thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h are likely to occur.
Weather Systems Influencing the Rainfall
Three major weather systems are influencing the rainfall:
Cyclonic Circulation over Marathwada and nearby areas, extending up to 1.5 km above sea level.
A trough stretching from south Chhattisgarh to central Maharashtra across Vidarbha.
A north-south trough running from Marathwada to north Tamil Nadu across Karnataka’s interior areas.
With these systems in place, people are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
