Auspicious vs Inauspicious Time

In Hindu traditions, timing plays a big role in performing rituals. Even though Raksha Bandhan 2025 is free from the Bhadra period, astrologers caution that the day still includes Rahukaal — a time considered inauspicious for starting any auspicious work.

Rahukaal Warning

As per astrologers, Rahukaal on 9 August 2025 in Delhi will last from 9:07 AM to 10:47 AM. Performing sacred acts during this 1 hour 40 minutes is believed to invite delays or negative effects. Sisters should avoid tying Rakhi during this period to ensure positivity.

Best Time to Tie Rakhi

Experts recommend the Abhijit Muhurat for Rakhi tying. In Delhi, it falls between 12:00 PM and 12:53 PM, making it the most favourable window for sacred activities. This 53-minute slot is said to attract blessings, success, and harmony.

According to Professor Ramraj Upadhyay from Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Rahukaal is ruled by Rahu, a shadow planet in astrology. Lasting about 1.5 hours daily, Rahukaal’s timing changes based on the day and sunrise. Starting spiritual, financial, or personal ventures during this time is discouraged.

What to Avoid in Rahukaal

Astrologers suggest avoiding the following during Rahukaal:
