Ratan Tata Remembered: A Heartfelt Farewell by His Loyal Dog
Ratan Tata, the beloved Indian businessman, passed away at the age of 86 after a short illness. Many people gathered at Mumbai’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) to pay their respects. Among the attendees was Tata's loyal dog, Goa, whom he had rescued a few years ago.
Goa's Presence
Goa stood by to honor Tata's memory. Tata had saved him from the streets of Goa and brought him to Bombay House. This act reflects Tata's lifelong love for animals, especially dogs. He often helped injured strays and shared adoption posts on his Instagram.
A Special Bond
Ratan Tata had a close friendship with his assistant, Shantanu Naidu, who is 30 years old. They bonded over their shared passion for animals. Naidu started a project to create reflective collars for street dogs, which could help keep them safe from traffic. He approached Tata for support, and instead, Tata offered him a job as his assistant and made him the manager of Tata Trust.
A Heartfelt Decision
Tata's dedication to his pets was so strong that he once chose to skip a prestigious award ceremony to care for his sick dog. In 2018, he was set to receive a lifetime achievement award at Buckingham Palace for his philanthropic work. However, when his dog fell ill just before the event, Tata decided to stay home.
Recognition from a King
Businessman Suhel Seth shared a story about Tata's loyalty to his dog. One night, Tata called Seth multiple times to explain that he couldn't attend the royal ceremony because he needed to be with his pet. This heartfelt choice impressed King Charles III, who remarked, “That’s the man Ratan is.”
