Samsung Z TriFold Launch on Dec 12: Specs, Design and Full Features
Samsung is finally bringing its long-awaited Z TriFold to the market. The foldable will launch on December 12 in South Korea, while the US release is expected in early 2026. The device is designed to introduce a completely new trifold experience for premium users.

Inward-Folding Design
Samsung uses an inward-folding layout that shields the main display from scratches and accidental damage. The company has also added an alert system that notifies users when the phone is not folded properly.
Titanium Hinge System
The Z TriFold features a titanium Armour FlexHinge supported by two unequal-sized hinges working alongside a dual-rail structure. According to Samsung, this setup offers a smoother fold, better stability across all panels, and a longer lifespan thanks to a thin metal insert safeguarding the mechanism.
Large 10-Inch Screen
Inside, the device unfolds into a 10-inch screen with a 2160 x 1584 resolution and a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 120Hz to 1Hz. It also supports Samsung DeX in standalone mode, allowing multitasking with three vertically stacked apps without requiring a secondary monitor.
External Display Specs
The outer display is a 6.5-inch 1080p panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, quite similar to the Z Fold 7’s outer screen. The TriFold uses three distinct panels:
- 4.2mm centre panel with USB-C
- 3.9mm slim panel with SIM tray
- 4.0mm third panel
The folding method differs from Huawei's Mate XT by fully folding the sides inward instead of reusing part of the inner screen.
Thickness & Build
When folded, the TriFold measures 12.9mm in thickness — thicker than the Galaxy S25 Ultra but close to the Z Fold 6. It remains comparable to Huawei’s Mate XT but slightly heavier at 309g. Samsung has reinforced durability using a ceramic-glass fibre polymer back panel, while the hinges get a titanium dual-rail housing for added strength.
Durability Rating
The device carries an IP48 rating, making it fully water-resistant but not completely dust-tight — a notable improvement for a multi-panel foldable.
- Camera System
- Samsung equips the TriFold with:
- 200MP main camera
- 12MP ultrawide sensor
- 10MP telephoto lens
The cover and inner screens each include a 10MP selfie camera, ensuring quality shots regardless of how the device is held.
Performance & Battery
The TriFold runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor paired with 16GB RAM. The dual-battery architecture spreads capacity across both screens, combining for a robust 5,600mAh setup. However, Samsung has removed stylus support for this model. Pricing details for Korea and the US remain unannounced.
