Shambhu border will remain closed for now, SC rejected, petition on demanding its opening
Supreme Court Reject Farmers Petition: The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition demanding the opening of Shambhu border between Haryana-Punjab and other highways of Punjab. A bench headed by Justice Surya Kant said that a petition is already pending on this matter.
During the hearing, it was said that a petition is already pending in this matter, so there will be no discussion on the new one. If the petitioner wants, he can file an application in the pending case.

There will be no separate hearing on the new petition. If the petitioner wants, he can file an application in the pending case. Petitioner Gaurav Luthra, a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, had said that due to the farmers' agitation, the Shambhu border has been closed for a long time.
Even though unions of farmers have also closed other highways of Punjab. Although this activity of farmers is not only illegal, but also a violation of the fundamental rights of other citizens of the state.
Petitioner had given this argument
The petition said that obstructing the road is a crime under the BNS (Indian Justice Code) and NHAI Act, but neither the police nor the NHAI (National Highway Authority) is taking any action. Constitution also gives the status of fundamental right to the right to movement to everyone.
Supreme Court said - petition was filed for publicity
The petition demanded that the Supreme Court should ask the central and state governments to open all the roads, but the court said that the petition seems to be filed for publicity. It is not that only this petitioner is concerned about public interest. In view of the wider public interest, the court has already issued instructions.

Supreme Court has already constituted a committee
It is worth noting that on 2 September the Supreme Court, while hearing another petition on the same issue, constituted a 5-member high-powered committee under the leadership of former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge. Though committee was asked to talk to farmers on MSP and thier other demands. The Supreme Court also asked the farmers to avoid politicizing their movement.
