Shri Vikram Misri, India's Foreign Secretary overwhelmed by BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi
The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi had the privilege of welcoming the Foreign Secretary of India, Shri Vikram Misri. His visit underscored the shared values of peace and partnership that define India’s engagement with the world, especially in the context of India-UAE relations.
Shri Misri, accompanied by Aseem Raja Mahajan Joint Secretary for Gulf Affairs, Ambassador Sanjay Sudhir and the members of his delegation, was welcomed with a sanctified garland at the Harmony Wall by Pujya Brahmavihari Swami, Head of BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi.
Shri Misri was spellbound by The Fairy Tale, an immersive experience that creatively conveys universal values of harmony, mutual respect, and cultural understanding through vibrant storytelling and historical reflections. Recounting Dr S. Jaishankar’s words, he mentioned the tale of the mandir is indeed a fairy tale. As he walked through the tranquil premises, he observed the symbolic Tolerance Trees, representing unity in diversity, and explored the key architectural and spiritual elements of the mandir.
Swami Brahmaviharidas unfolded the profound symbolism woven into the Harmony Dome, illuminating its spiritual essence and universal message of harmony between the Divine and Humankind. He revealed that each aspect of the mandir evoked deep reflections in him, unravelling layers of thoughtful symbolism with its ornate craftsmanship. Within the sanctum of the mandir, he offered reverent prayers at the seven inner shrines and paused in contemplative homage to the visionary guidance and spiritual legacy of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, whose divine foresight gave rise to this monumental beacon of faith and harmony.
Expressing his feelings, he said, “I have had a thousand blessings today. This is not just a building; it is an expression of faith, beliefs, and ideas that are transcendental. The Mandir unites not just different streams of faith but the entire humanity. It is miraculous...my mind and heart are overflowing...it is a mandir deserving of the greatest accolades...and will be spoken about for generations. People may think it is for religion, but it is something for the world, for humanity, for our universal existence....It is a Mandir every Indian must visit.”
Shri Misri commended its engineering, architectural brilliance and the values the mandir embodies, describing the mandir as “a global symbol of interfaith harmony and cultural dialogue.” He remarked that such places of devotion, built through international collaboration and inspired leadership, can play a powerful role in uniting people across boundaries.
Shri Vikram Misri offered earnest prayers for the enduring prosperity, visionary leadership and friendship of both India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. He expressed profound gratitude for His Highness’s steadfast support in bringing the mandir to life—an emblem of shared values, bridging hearts and cultures across the globe.
