Once again, the earth shook in Pakistan and an atmosphere of fear prevailed among the people. Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in West Pakistan on Tuesday afternoon, due to which the local people came out of their houses in panic. According to the Department of Seismology (NCS), the intensity of this earthquake was measured at 4.6 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of this earthquake, which occurred at 1:26 pm, was 10 kilometers below the ground, whose latitude was recorded at 29.12 North and longitude 67.26 East

Earthquake tremors were felt several times

Even before this tremor, earthquake tremors have been felt several times in Pakistan in the last few days. On Saturday, May 10, an earthquake of 4.0 magnitude occurred near Quetta, whose epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers. This jolt was recorded at 1:44 am. Earlier, on Monday, at the beginning of the week, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude was also recorded in Pakistan. This sequence shows that seismic activities are continuously increasing in this region.

Risk of loss of life increases

There are a total of 7 big tectonic plates under the surface of the earth, which keep sliding and colliding. When these plates collide with each other or tension is generated in them, that energy is felt on the surface in the form of an earthquake. This damages houses and increases the risk of loss of life.

59 percent of the area of India falls in earthquake prone zone

Talking about India, about 59 percent of the country falls in earthquake prone areas. Geologists have divided India into four earthquake zones—Zone-2, Zone-3, Zone-4 and Zone-5. Among these, Zone-5 is considered the most sensitive.

The national capital Delhi falls in Zone-4, where there is a possibility of earthquakes of magnitude 7 or more. In such a situation, alertness and awareness are the biggest means of protection.
