Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Shah took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, a sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Celebration of Sanatan Culture

Calling the Maha Kumbh a “unique symbol of Sanatan culture,” Amit Shah shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter): “The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, rooted in harmony. It is a great festival of unity and integrity.”

After the holy dip, Amit Shah visited the Bade Hanuman Temple and Abhayvat, followed by a meeting and lunch with sages at the Juna Akhara. He also met spiritual leaders Guru Sharananand Ji and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj. The Home Minister held discussions with Shankaracharyas from Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka before concluding his visit.

Maha Kumbh: A Massive Gathering

Since the Maha Kumbh’s commencement on January 13 with Paush Purnima, over 110 million devotees have participated, taking sacred dips at the Sangam. The event holds immense spiritual significance, as pilgrims believe it purifies their souls and leads to moksha (liberation).

Amit Shah ’s visit highlights the festival's importance as a cultural and spiritual treasure of India, drawing global attention to Prayagraj’s holy traditions.
