USA on Kejriwal: After Jaishankar reminded US of it's limits, a journalist also questioned US's stance on Pakistan
USA on Kejriwal: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's case has garnered international attention with uninvited reactions from foreign land. The USA State Department Spokesperson, Matthew Miller was questioned by a journalist during daily media briefing about the stance of USA on the political prisoners in the Pakistan. Mathew Miller questioned
The USA state department spokesperson Mathew Miller was questioned by a journalist on Wednesday about USA commenting on Arvind Kejriwal's arrest again and again, but not clearing it's stance on the political prisoners on Pakistan. The journalist asked Mathew as to why USA had such a strong stance against India but not on political prisoners in Pakistan.

Response of Mathew Miller
Mathew Miller disagreed to the statement saying that the US wants everybody in Pakistan to be treated equally, same as they would want with context to any country.
Answering to the question, Miller said “I would not agree with that characterisation. We have made clear on a number of occasions that we want to see everyone in Pakistan treated consistent with the rule of law, treated with respect for human rights, as is our position with respect to any country in the world.”
USA on Kejriwal
Mathew Miller in an earlier press briefing has given the statement that the USA is closely monitoring the development in India with regards to Arvind Kejriwal's case, and also expects fair and clear legal process to be taken in the matter. To this, India objected calling the comments unwarranted and completely unacceptable. India responded by saying that, India is a country following the rule of law, and other similar democracies should be accepting that. Adding to this, the statement read "It is proud of its independent and robust democratic institutions. We are committed to protect them from any form of undue external influences, mutual respect and understanding form the foundation of international relations and states are expected to be respectful of the sovereignty and internal affairs of others.”
India also reacted to the remarks by summoning the USA acting deputy chief of mission Gloria Barbena to protest against the comments.
To this, Mathew Miller later said that USA expects countries to follow free and fair routes, to which they should not have any objection.
S. Jaishankar reminding limits to the west
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday, April 2nd used the word "Maryada" for USA and other countries who are taking the liberty to comment on Indian domestic political issues. The minister was in Surat, Gujarat, attending the Corporate Summit 2024, during which he said that India and US are sovereign countries, and hence should not be interfering in each other's internal affairs".
The minister said hat the West has an old habit of commenting on other nations internal affairs, and that these habits are bad habits. During the press conference, Jaishankar said “These are old habits. These are bad habits...The word I use is 'Maryada' among countries, we are sovereign countries. We should not be interfering in each other's internal affairs. We should not be passing comments about each other's politics."
Arvind Kejriwal Arrested
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by Enforcement Directorate on March 21st in the Delhi Liquor Excise Policy Case. He was arrested by ED after he ignored 9 summons for interrogation. He was sent to the custody of ED till April 1. On April 1, the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court sent Kejriwal to judicial custody in Tihar Jail. The politics of Delhi has been getting hotter each day with developments such as the bailing of AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Wednesday April 3.
