Victory of protesting students in Prayagraj, RO-ARO exam postponed, now paper will be held in 1 shift
The protesting students have got a big victory in Prayagraj. UPPSC has accepted their demands. Now the PCS and RO/ARO exam has been postponed. With this, now the PCS exam will be held in one shift. Students were protesting in Prayagraj since Monday.
Meanwhile UP CM Yogi took cognizance of the demand of the students. UPPSC has taken the decision on the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi. The CM has asked the Commission to take necessary decisions by communicating and coordinating with the students.
Big victory of protesting students in Prayagraj
After the struggle of the students who have been protesting continuously since Monday, UPPSC has postponed the examinations of PSC (State Public Service Commission) and RO/ARO (Revising Officer/ASSISTANT REVIEW OFFICER). This decision has given a big relief to the students and took their movement one step further towards success
It has now been decided to conduct the PCS Preliminary Exam 2024 in one day and in one shift. A committee will be formed for RO-ARO. The committee will soon submit its detailed report after considering all the aspects.
RO/ARO Exam Postponed
Apart from this, UPPSC has also decided to postpone the examination of RO (Revising Officer) and ARO (ASSISTANT REVIEW OFFICER). This step has been taken after the persistent demands of the students, who were against conducting these examinations simultaneously.
What was the matter?
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission had decided to conduct the PCS Prelims 2024 and RO-ARP Prelims-2023 examinations in two days, in two shifts. Competitive students were demanding that the preliminary examinations of UP PCS 2024 and RO-ARO 2023 be conducted on the same day and in the same shift as before. They said that they would be harmed by the normalization that would happen if the examination is conducted for 2 days.
Student’s adamant on the demand for 'One Day One Exam'
On November 11, candidates from Delhi to UP took to the streets against this decision. The protesting students were adamant on the demand for 'One Day One Exam'. The students were demanding the abolition of the normalization system in the UPPSC examinations. Their argument is that the method of normalization system of the Public Service Commission is not fair.

Although after this announcement, the protesting student said that our demands have been met. A decision has been taken to form a committee for RO-ARO. However, the date of the exam has not been announced yet. He said that after this decision we will end our protest.
PCS exam will now be held in a single shift
One of the main issues of the protesters was that the UPPSC exam was held in two shifts, due to which there was a shortage of time and difficulties were faced. UPPSC has accepted this demand of the students and decided that the PCS Preliminary Exam 2024 will now be conducted in a single shift. This decision will solve the problems of the students.
Police had detained students
On Thursday morning, some candidates who were protesting were forcibly picked up by the police, which created chaos there. A girl student had said that the police also misbehaved with the protesting women. A protester said that policemen in civil dress forcibly dragged away some protesting students. Earlier on Wednesday evening also, the police had detained 11 students. They were forcibly closing the coaching library.

Pressure and success regarding demands
Though struggle of the students in Prayagraj bore fruit and UPPSC accepted their major demands. The initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the active efforts of the commission have brought relief to the student community. This decision makes it clear that when the problems of the students are heard properly and appropriate steps are taken, positive change is possible.
In view of the pressure created by the students regarding their demands, UPPSC immediately changed the decision of the commission and improved its policies understanding the concern of the students.
