Voting continues on 288 seats of Maharashtra, 38 seats of Jharkhand: PM Modi and other stalwarts appeal to the voters

Maharashtra &Jharkhand Assembly Elections: Voting is going on for 288 seats of Maharashtra Assembly. At the same time, voting is being held on 38 seats in the last phase of Jharkhand assembly elections amid tight security. Many leaders including PM Modi have made a special appeal to the voters. PM Modi said that I especially urge the youth and first-time voters to exercise their franchise.

Maharashtra and Jharkhand Election 2024 update

While voting is going on from 7 am on Wednesday for the by-elections being held on all 288 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat (Nanded) of the state for the formation of a new government in Maharashtra, which will continue till 6 pm. Tight security arrangements have been made to conduct peaceful voting on all the seats. Meanwhile, many leaders including the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have appealed to the people to participate enthusiastically in this festival of democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on social media platform X that today is the second and last phase of the great festival of democracy in Jharkhand. I urge all the voters to participate in it enthusiastically and create a new record of voting. On this occasion, I specially congratulate all my young colleagues who are going to vote for the first time.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appeals to vote

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on Instagram, "I appeal to my brothers and sisters of Maharashtra to vote in large numbers and strengthen the celebration of democracy. I appeal to all the voters of this phase, especially the youth, to vote in large numbers to elect a new government with a huge majority that will bring peace and prosperity to the state.

The future of Jharkhand depends on your one vote.

Home Minister Amit Shah made this appeal to the voters

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, "I urge the sisters and brothers who are going to vote in the Maharashtra Assembly elections to vote in large numbers to form a government in the state, which has Maharashtra's culture, prosperity of the state, security of mothers and sisters and progress of farmers at its center.

At the same time, Shah said for the Jharkhand elections that I appeal to all the voters going to vote in the second and final phase of Jharkhand to vote in record numbers today to form a government that cares about the bread, daughter and soil of Jharkhand.

Voting begins on 38 seats in the last phase in Jharkhand

Voting has started at 7 am amid tight security on 38 seats in 12 districts in the second and last phase of Jharkhand assembly elections. A total of 14 thousand 219 polling stations have been set up on these seats, where before the start of voting, the election personnel conducted a mock poll in the presence of the representatives of the candidates.

Long queues of voters were seen before the start of voting at many booths. For the security of polling centers and polling parties, 585 companies of central paramilitary forces, 60 companies of JAP (Jharkhand Armed Force) and 30 thousand jawans of district force and home guard have been deployed. In this phase, there are 31 highly sensitive polling centers where voting will be held only till 4 pm. Apart from these, voting will be possible till 5 pm at other 13 thousand 187 centers. 2414 polling centers are located in urban areas, while the number of booths in rural areas is 11 thousand 804.

Eight seats are reserved for ST and three for SC

48 booths have been developed as unique booths. There are 239 booths whose operation is completely in the hands of women personnel. 2 Disabled workers are managing 2 polling stations while the management of 26 polling stations has been handed over to the youth.

A total of 528 candidates are in the fray in this phase, whose fate will be decided by a total of 1 crore 23 lakh 58 thousand 195 voters. The seats on which voting is being held include 18-18 seats from Santhal Pargana division and North Chotanagpur division and two seats from South Chotanagpur division.

The highest number of voters, 5 lakh 82 thousand 101, are in Bokaro assembly seat, while the lowest number of voters, 2 lakh 17 thousand 388, are in Littipara seat of Santhal Pargana. The major candidates of this phase include CM Hemant Soren as JMM candidate from Barhet seat, BJP state president and first CM of the state Babulal Marandi from Rajdhanwar seat,
