Warning of snowfall in Himachal & Kashmir, mercury will drop in Delhi, IMD issued alert

The Meteorological Department has predicted severe cold and fog in North India. While IMD issued alert of rain and snowfall in Himachal and Kashmir.

Winter has gained momentum in the new year. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. Apart from Himachal, heavy snowfall may occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on January 5. The department says that cold can increase in the plains also due to cold way.

According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold will occur in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and some parts of Uttar Pradesh. A drop in temperature can be recorded in these states during the next 24 hours. That is, the situation of cold day will remain here for the next two days.

Severe cold is also falling here

The cold has increased in Rajasthan too, due to which daily life has become disrupted. According to the IMD, the temperature in Jaipur was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius at 8:30 am on Wednesday, while the temperature in Bikaner and Churu was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius respectively. Severe cold continues in Jammu and Kashmir and the temperature has gone below zero in many areas. The surface of Dal Lake froze due to cold. According to the IMD report, at 8:30 am on Wednesday, Srinagar recorded -1.5°C, Gulmarg -2.4°C, Pahalgam -6°C, Banihal 0.4°C and Kupwara 0.4°C.

Dense fog warning

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to prevail in different areas of Punjab late at night and in the morning. Along with this, dense fog may occur in Haryana-Chandigarh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Sikkim till January 3. A warning has been issued for dense fog in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till January 06.

Weather in Delhi

Meanwhile Delhi is also experiencing severe cold. Winds are blowing at a speed of 14 to 18 kilometers per hour in Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department says that the wind speed will gradually decrease to less than eight kilometers per hour by evening. Mist or light fog is expected during the evening and night. The maximum temperature can be recorded around 18 and the minimum temperature around 9 degrees Celsius.

Alert for rain and snowfall in Himachal

According to the Meteorological Department, fresh snowfall and rain may occur in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. The forecast has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches of the state from January 4 to 7, as well as heavy rain on January 5 and 6. Popular tourist destinations like Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie may receive rain.

Meanwhile, the weather remained mostly dry across the state during the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature in Shimla was 7.6 degrees Celsius, 5.9 degrees Celsius in Dharamshala, 2.4 degrees Celsius in Manali, 2.9 degrees Celsius in Bhuntar, 3.8 degrees Celsius below zero in Kalpa, 6.3 degrees Celsius in Nahan, 9.2 degrees Celsius in Kasauli, minimum temperature in Una was 4.4 degrees Celsius, temperature in Kangra was 5.2 degrees Celsius and temperature in Mandi was 17.9 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, Sundarnagar of Mandi district remained the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 21.4 degrees Celsius, while Tabo village of tribal district Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.7 degrees Celsius below zero.
