WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging platform, is making headlines with a new feature aimed at enhancing user personalization. In its latest beta update, version 2.24.20.12 for Android, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that allows users to choose a ‘default theme’ for chats and chat bubbles. This update is part of the Google Play Beta Program and provides users with a range of design styles to customize their chat interface.

Enhanced Customization Options

The new feature, still in development, will let users personalize their chat experience by selecting colors for chat bubbles and wallpapers from a predefined set of themes. According to WABetaInfo, the website that reports on WhatsApp updates, the new user interface (UI) ensures that the selected wallpaper complements the chat bubble colors, creating a cohesive and visually appealing appearance.

Light and Dark Modes

In addition to theme customization, the update will offer the option to switch between dark and light modes, giving users flexibility for different lighting conditions. The dark themes can be paired with adjustable brightness settings, enhancing comfort for users during low-light viewing.

Limited Themes and Preset Options

While users will be able to choose from a set of themes, customization will be limited to a few presets available within the WhatsApp interface. These themes are designed to create a harmonious look by matching wallpapers with chat bubble colors.

Release Timeline

Although the feature is still under development and unavailable for beta testers, WhatsApp is reportedly making significant progress. However, the platform has not provided an exact timeline for its official release. A launch may happen soon, but details remain under wraps for now.

While the exact release date for this new customization feature remains unclear, WhatsApp's continued focus on enhancing user experience through personalization demonstrates its commitment to evolving with user preferences. As the feature progresses through development, users can look forward to more creative control over their chat interfaces, making their WhatsApp experience more visually engaging and tailored to their liking. With the growing demand for customization, this update is sure to be a welcome addition once it officially rolls out.
