Who is Rahool Kanal? The Shiv Sena Leader Behind the Studio Attack on Kunal Kamra

On Monday, Mumbai Police arrested Shiv Sena leader Rahool Kanal and 11 others for vandalizing Habitat Studio. The attack came after comedian Kunal Kamra released a parody song that referred to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor).

A local court granted bail to Kanal and his associates the same day. The incident took place late Sunday night and was allegedly an act of retaliation against Kamra’s video.

Defending his actions, Rahool Kanal warned Kamra, stating,
"This is just a trailer. If anyone speaks against our senior leader or elders, we will not spare them. Whenever you are in Mumbai, you will learn a lesson in Shiv Sena style."

Rahool Kanal 's Political and Social Work Journey

Rahool Kanal is a well-known social activist and philanthropist. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Mumbai in 2005.

• Kanal was a close associate of Aaditya Thackeray and actively worked in the youth wing Yuva Sena for over 10 years.

• He was previously Shiv Sena's Social Media In-Charge.

• In July 2023, he left Shiv Sena (UBT) and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction. He was later appointed General Secretary of Yuva Sena.

• Kanal is the founder and president of the 'I Love Mumbai' Foundation.

• He was a trustee of the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, one of India's most respected religious organizations.

• He is a member of the Education Committee at MCGM (Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai).

• Kanal is also the President of the Pickleball Association of Maharashtra.

Apart from politics, Rahool Kanal is also an entrepreneur. He owns Bhaijaanz restaurant in Mumbai, which is inspired by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
