What the Case Is About

The defamation case was already in progress, and the court had earlier given Medha Patkar a sentence which could be relaxed if she followed certain conditions. These included:

  • Submitting a probation bond
  • Depositing a fine of Rs.1 lakh

However, Patkar did not follow through.

Court's Reaction to Her Actions

On Thursday, the court said that Patkar deliberately ignored its orders. She also failed to show up in court and did not pay the fine. The judge mentioned that her request for more time was "frivolous and mischievous" and seemed like a tactic to delay justice.

What the Judge Said?

Judge Vishal Singh clearly stated that Patkar’s actions showed she had no intention of obeying the court. Since she was not cooperating, the court decided there was no option left but to arrest her and bring her before the court.

What Happens Next?

Patkar is expected to be presented before the Saket court today. The legal process will continue from there.
