A tragic incident occurred in Hyderabad where a woman named Reshma Begum, aged 33, reportedly died after consuming momos from a roadside stall. In addition, 15 other people fell ill after eating the same snack from different locations in the city, according to police reports.

Details of the Case

Last Friday, Reshma and her two daughters, aged 12 and 14, bought momos from a street vendor in Khairatabad. Soon after eating, they started suffering from serious symptoms like diarrhea, stomach pain, and vomiting. Unfortunately, Reshma died on Sunday morning, while her daughters are still undergoing medical treatment.

Local Accounts

A local resident reported that Reshma showed symptoms of food poisoning just one hour after eating the momos. She died around 8:30 AM on Monday. The family had bought the momos from a stall named 'Delhi Momos,' located in Chintal Basti, which has been in operation for about three months, run by six men from Bihar.

Investigation and Response

Following the incident, police have taken the vendors into custody. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported that food safety officials, along with the police, traced the vendor and found that the stall was operating without a license.

Food samples have been sent to the state food laboratory for testing, and the GHMC has halted the vendor's operations. A letter has been sent to the Banjara Hills police requesting an investigation into the matter.

Ongoing Investigation

Ram Babu, a sub-inspector at Banjara Hills Police Station, confirmed that a complaint was filed regarding Reshma's death and the food poisoning cases. The police have registered a case and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
