Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Furious Reaction After Runout Mix-Up With Shubman Gill Goes Viral

It all happened early on Day 2, when Yashasvi Jaiswal, resuming his innings on 173, tried to sneak a quick single off Jayden Seales’ fuller delivery. However, Gill didn’t respond to the call, leaving Jaiswal stranded mid-pitch. Despite a fumble from the West Indies keeper Tevin Imlach, the throw reached in time, and the on-field umpire Richard Illingworth raised his finger.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Refuses to Leave

Clearly frustrated, Jaiswal slammed his forehead and gestured angrily toward Gill, arguing that the single was his call. For a brief moment, he even refused to walk off, seemingly expecting the umpire to refer the decision to the third umpire. However, Illingworth signaled him to head back as the decision stood.

Replays Show Close Call

Replays later revealed that the runout was much closer than it appeared live, sparking debate on whether it should’ve gone upstairs. As Jaiswal walked back to the pavilion, he was seen discussing the dismissal animatedly with Ravindra Jadeja, clearly disappointed to miss out on what looked like a sure-shot double century.

Missed Double, but Record Knock

Despite the heartbreak, Jaiswal’s knock of 175 runs remains a standout. He became the youngest Indian opener to score seven Test centuries before turning 24, equalling Graeme Smith’s record. He also joined Virat Kohli in an elite list — scoring over 150 runs twice on Day 1 of a Test in India.

No Sixes, Only Classy Boundaries

Interestingly, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s marathon innings didn’t feature a single six. Instead, he relied on elegant stroke play, hitting 22 boundaries across the ground. Former captain Anil Kumble had even predicted a triple century for the left-hander before the unfortunate dismissal ended his innings.
