Day 1: Ganesh Chaturthi (September 8, 2024)

The festival kicks off with the Ganesh Sthapana in homes, public spaces, and temples. Devotees perform a ritual called “pranapratishtha,” inviting the spirit of Lord Ganesha into the idol. Traditional prayers, or “Ganpati Puja,” are offered along with sweets like modaks, which are believed to be Lord Ganesha’s favorite.

Days 2-3: Bhajans and Cultural Programs (September 9-10, 2024)

The second and third days are dedicated to singing devotional songs (bhajans) and various cultural performances. Local communities and temples organize these events, featuring music, dance, and other cultural activities. Many places also host competitions and special events, creating a festive atmosphere.

Days 4-5: Community Celebrations (September 11-12, 2024)

During these days, community gatherings and processions become prominent. Public pandals (temporary structures) are elaborately decorated, and vibrant processions take place. Devotees carry Ganesh idols through the streets, accompanied by music, dance, and fireworks, reflecting the joyous spirit of the festival.

Day 6: Special Puja (September 13, 2024)

On the sixth day, a special puja called “Raja Ganpati” is performed. This day involves offering grand prayers and rituals to seek blessings for prosperity and success. Community feasts and elaborate offerings mark this significant day of worship.

Days 7-8: Immersion Preparations (September 14-15, 2024)

As the festival nears its end, preparations for the grand immersion procession begin. Families and communities get ready to take the Ganesh idols to a water body for immersion, symbolizing the deity’s return to his divine abode. Excitement builds up as the final procession approaches.

Day 9: Anant Chaturdashi (September 16, 2024)

Anant Chaturdashi marks the conclusion of Ganesh Chaturthi. On this day, the grand immersion procession takes place. Devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Purchya Varshi Laukariya.” The immersion is accompanied by traditional music, dance, and celebrations.
