Alleged Thief Lynched by Villagers in Uttar Pradesh, Two Accomplices Injured
In Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district, a suspected thief met a fatal end as villagers took the law into their own hands, resulting in his death. Two accomplices of the deceased also faced critical injuries during the incident, which occurred in Loukiya village.
The trio forcibly entered the home of the village's gram pradhan, Akhilesh Kumar, prompting villagers to catch them in the act and administer a severe beating. All three individuals had a history of criminal activities and previous cases against them.
The deceased, identified as Bhondu, aged 40, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment at the district hospital. The injured accomplices, Ankit and Ashish, were also hospitalized due to the serious nature of their injuries. A video depicting the villagers attacking the men with wooden logs circulated on social media, shedding light on the incident.
Following the assault, the villagers took the injured men to a nearby community health center for medical attention.
Sitapur Superintendent of Police, Chakresh Mishra, revealed that an FIR (First Information Report) was filed based on the gram pradhan's complaint, invoking Section 459 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) for the act of causing grievous harm during housebreaking.
Furthermore, an FIR against the villagers involved in the attack is set to be registered, highlighting the complex legal aftermath of the incident.
