IPL 2025 MS Dhoni CSK: The schedule of Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) has been announced. Defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders will play the first match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. This time the tournament will be played on 13 grounds. It also includes Guwahati, Visakhapatnam and Dharamshala. The remaining 10 are traditional grounds. After the IPL schedule came out, a post by BCCI surprised everyone. It called IPL 2025 the farewell season of former Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

What did BCCI write?

BCCI wrote on Twitter, "Thala returns to Chepauk! MS Dhoni's farewell IPL season will begin on March 23 with a thrilling match against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. An unforgettable chapter will begin in IPL 2025 - are you ready?"
Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. He last played for India in 2019. However, even after that he continued to play in the IPL and also made the team champion.

Speculations for many seasons

Speculations about Dhoni's last season have been going on for the last few years. Despite this, he is ready to play IPL again at the age of 43. Dhoni has been retained by Chennai Super Kings as an uncapped player this time for Rs 4 crore. The BCCI had changed the rules before the mega auction.
According to this, a player who has not played an international match for India for 5 years will be considered uncapped. Chennai benefited from this and retained Dhoni cheaply.

Chennai's first match on March 23

The Chennai Super Kings team will start their campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on the evening of March 23. This day will be the first double header of the tournament. Before Chennai and Mumbai, there will be a match between Sunrisers and Rajasthan. Dhoni-starrer CSK will face Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore twice in the group stage.
The second match against MI will be on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium. Virat and Dhoni will clash twice. CSK will also face RCB twice. Virat Kohli and Dhoni's first meeting in the season will be on March 28 at Chepauk.
