Kunal Kohli Praises Dhurandhar The Revenge, Calls It Biggest Hit of Indian Cinema
Kunal Kohli praises ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ and claims the film shows the true potential of Indian cinema.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has praised Dhurandhar: The Revenge and its team, including director Aditya Dhar and actor Ranveer Singh, for what he described as showcasing the true potential of Indian cinema.
Kohli shared a video on Instagram where he lauded the film’s reported box office performance.
"Congratulations Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and Jio Studios. You all have earned 100 crores+ a day, twice. Dhurandhar, of course, has become the biggest hit of Indian cinema, which is wonderful."
He highlighted what he described as key takeaways from the film’s performance.
"It has shown us the true potential of the Indian box office. Phenomenal. It has shown us that desi subjects and desi stories work like nothing else."
"Let's not be influenced by Western subjects and Westernized ideas; make desi subjects, desi films."
Kohli also spoke about his view of a Hindi film hero.
"Hero ko mard hona chahiye, Hindi film hero ko mard hona chahiye (A hero should be a man.
A Hindi film hero should be a man). Not some confused lost boy."
He added, "That's what 'Saiyaara' was; that's what 'Dhurandhar' is, and look at the numbers."
Taking a dig at alleged inflated box office figures, Kohli said, "Fake collections kar karke bhi you are not doing hundred crores for the entire lifetime of your film (Even after inflating collections with fake numbers, you’re not reaching Rs 100 crore over your film’s entire lifetime); this is doing Rs 100 crore in a day with genuine collections."
He concluded by thanking the team.
"Thank you, Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and the production house for showing us the real potential of Indian cinema."
