Karnataka government has consented to give the beneficiaries 2.32 lakh houses

Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan announced that the Karnataka government would provide 2.32 lakh houses to beneficiaries, covering costs of about Rs.8000 crore. Also read: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated SBI Branch in Srilanka Congress minister Zameer Ahmed Khan announced on Friday that the Karnataka government is now prepared to distribute 2.32 lakh houses to beneficiaries throughout the state, which can be regarded its sixth guarantee since taking charge with a resounding victory in the assembly elections on May 10. While addressing reporters, he reaffirmed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's commitment to the government covering the costs intended to be borne by the recipients in order to implement an "idle" scheme.

Project cost worth Rs.8000 Crores

The project will be carried out at a cost of approximately Rs. 8,000 crore, which the Siddaramaiah-led government will divide into phases. Housing and Minorities Welfare stated that at the Karnataka Sambrama program held in Hampi on Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah approved the project. Next week, there will be a meeting with representatives from the Finance Department to discuss this. 2.42 lakh families would find comfort in the CM's decision. People who were concerned that the bank loan might not be available would feel greatly relieved.

Subsidy upto Rs. 3 lakh will be offered

The beneficiaries were expected to pay Rs. 4 lakh, while the state and union governments would subsidize up to Rs.3 lakh of the Rs.7 lakh construction cost per unit. However, Khan noted that the state government would now be responsible for paying the sum that the beneficiaries were meant to pay. According to Khan, the Slums Development Board and the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation are working together to carry out the project, and it has been "idle" for several years because of problems with beneficiaries' non-payment. The government has now chosen to pay the beneficiaries' share. According to Khan, the agency, this would be the sixth assurance from the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, and all 2.32 lakh houses would be finished by the end of the following year.
