Assam CM's strong action against child marriage; More than 2000 arrested

Indian society has witnessed the problem of child marriage since ancient India and it is very unfortunate that the problem still exists. To work on such numbers, Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has come to action. The CM informed, all those who are involved in the heinous act of child marriage will be punished. The state recently More than 4000 cases of child marriages were filed in the state recently. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted and informed that the police will take action against all the filed cases.

The police came into force on 3rd February and started arresting people involved in child marriages. Up till now, police have arrested more than 2044 people. Police also arrested “poojaris” and “kajis” who performed the marriage ceremonies. 

But as this is a direct hit on societal norms, a lot of hatred is coming back to the officials. Women and children have come to the roads to protest against the government. According to them, they have no source of income left, and what they would do without their husbands?
