Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi is set to take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi at Raj Niwas on Saturday around 4:30 PM. She will make history as the 17th woman Chief Minister in India and the third woman to hold the position in Delhi, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit.

New Cabinet Members

Along with Atishi, five other ministers will be sworn in as part of the new Delhi Cabinet. These ministers include AAP leaders Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and a new face, Mukesh Ahlawat.

Low-Key Ceremony Amidst Political Changes

The oath-taking ceremony is expected to be a low-key event. The mood within the party is subdued due to Arvind Kejriwal's recent resignation. Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister on September 17, only a few days after the Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with an excise policy 'scam' case.

Kejriwal's Future Plans

In his resignation announcement, Kejriwal stated that he would only return to the position after receiving a "certificate of honesty" from the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly elections.

He has called for early elections but has not requested the early dissolution of the Delhi Assembly, which is scheduled for February next year. Meanwhile, AAP is actively campaigning for the elections in neighboring Haryana.

As Atishi prepares to take on her new role as Chief Minister, her leadership will be closely watched in the coming months. The AAP faces challenges ahead, particularly in restoring party morale and addressing the issues that led to Kejriwal’s resignation. With elections on the horizon, Atishi's performance and the new cabinet's initiatives will be crucial in shaping the political landscape of Delhi and determining the party's future.
