'Bangalore Rose' onion exports are duty-free under the government's exemption policy
For the exporter to have the certificate issued by the Finance Ministry exempting Bangalore Rose onions from export duties, the state horticulture commissioner must certify the item and quantity to be exported.

To boost domestic availability and restrain price increases in the local market, the government placed a 40% levy on the export of all kinds of onions in August.
