Why the Bharat Bandh called know the reason
The Dalit and tribal organizations called for 'Bharat Bandh' in The demand of new law that was passed in The Supreme Court OF India on reservation for SC-ST and OBC, the SC recently gave its decisionon this whole matte. After this the Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti said that this decision will violates the constitutional rights of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe of the Country, many opposition parties like Mukti Morcha and Rashtriya Janata Dal and leftist are supported the agitation. While Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which is a part of the NDA, also come out to show there supported in the movement, the question comes is? what was tha decision of the Supreme Court on reservation, which provoke the opposition to mobilized and bring Dalit-tribal organizations to take this matter on streets. Apart of it the demand for giving reservation in sub-categories to SC-ST class for reservation in jobs has been pending in the Supreme Court for a long time. But now SC gave the decision on 1 August. However, the Supreme Court has overturned its old decision of 2004 and has given its approval to the Punjab Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Act, 2006 and the Tamil Nadu Arunthathiyar Act and approved quota within quota (reservation in sub-categories). Because earlier in 2004, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court had given a decision in the case related to EV Chinnaiya vs Andhra Pradesh Government that state governments cannot create sub-categories of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for reservation in jobs. Whereas the Punjab government, which went against that decision, argued that this was acceptable under the 1992 decision of the Supreme Court in Indira Sawhney vs Union of India, which allowed sub-categories within Other Backward Classes (OBC). The Punjab government had demanded that sub-categories should be allowed within Scheduled Castes as well
