Bihar Man Assaulted and Shamed, Accused of Molestation
In Bihar's Katihar district, a man named Anand faced a brutal ordeal, including severe beatings, forced head tonsuring, beard shaving, and being adorned with a garland made of shoes. These horrific actions were taken after a woman accused him of molesting and harassing her.
Anand had been employed at a flour mill in Kabar village, owned by Rajiv Kumar, where he developed an acquaintance with Rajiv Kumar's wife over time. They even had phone conversations. However, the situation took a dark turn when the woman alleged that Anand had been harassing her for the past three months, making unwanted calls and intruding into her home in her husband's absence.
She claimed that Anand had molested her, leading to her family members catching him when she raised an alarm. They tied him to a peg and subjected him to physical assault. His head and beard were forcibly shaved, and he was made to wear a garland of shoes as a means of publicly shaming him.
The woman further asserted that Anand had intimidated and threatened her husband, warning him to avoid any contact with her, under the threat of violence.
In contrast, Anand maintained his innocence, contending that the woman had frequently called him and invited him over. Despite admitting to regular phone conversations, he denied any romantic involvement.
The police were alerted to the incident and took Anand into custody. However, as neither party filed a formal complaint, Anand was subsequently released from police custody.
