Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) National President, JP Nadda, officially entered the race for a Rajya Sabha seat from Gujarat. The nomination filing took place on Thursday, with Nadda being accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel and other prominent party leaders in the state.

Continuing Rajya Sabha Journey

JP Nadda, currently a Rajya Sabha member representing Himachal Pradesh, is seeking re-election from Gujarat. His nomination marks a strategic move by the BJP for the upcoming biennial Rajya Sabha polls.

BJP's Nominees for Gujarat

The BJP, eyeing a strong representation, has put forward four candidates from Gujarat for the Rajya Sabha. Alongside Nadda, the party has nominated Govindbhai Dholakia, Mayankbhai Nayak, and Jashvantsinh Parmar for the prestigious seats.

National Appointments for Union Ministers

In addition to Gujarat, the BJP has revealed its nominations for other states as well. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to represent Odisha, while L Murugan has been nominated for Madhya Pradesh.

Upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections Timeline

As the deadline for filing nominations ends today, the Election Commission has scheduled the Rajya Sabha elections for 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, on February 27. The voting window will be open from 9 am to 4 pm on the same day, with the results set to be announced promptly on February 27 itself.

National Impact of Rajya Sabha Polls

The BJP's carefully chosen candidates reflect a strategic approach to secure a robust presence in the Rajya Sabha, an essential legislative body. The biennial Rajya Sabha polls will decide the fate of 56 seats across the country, with the tenure of the current incumbents concluding in April.
