BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's derogatory remark to Muslim MP cause political storm

On the last day of the special session of parliament on 21 September Friday, Ramesh Bidhuri, Member of parliament from South Delhi hailing from Bhartiya Janta Party made a string of derogatory remarks towards another member of parliament from Bahujan Samajwadi Party Danish Ali who  is also a member of the Muslim community.

He was addressing the house over the success of Chandrayaan when he called  Danish Ali a terrorist and made derogatory remarks based on his religious identity of being a Muslim.

After this, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh express his regret over the comments and asked for the comments to be erased from the records of parliamentary proceedings.

MP Ramesh gave a strong topic to the opposition who has been swinging the issue since the happening and have raised questions on how can a MP use such words in  the temple of democracy. Opposition has asked strict actions to be taken by the speaker against Ramesh.

The speaker has given warned Ramesh of strict actions if it is repeated again.

Bhartiya Janta party has issued a show cause notice asking the rationality of the comments made by Ramesh. BJP wants an answer on 15 days

Danish Ali, who was targeted by Ramesh has expressed his anguish and has written a letter to the speaker OM Birla asking to take strict action against Ramesh. He said  “I write to you with deep anguish regarding the speech given in the Lok Sabha by an MP of the BJP, Mr Ramesh Bidhuri… During the course of his speech, he directed the most foul, abusive invectives against me,” he said in the letter. He added “The fact that it has happened in a new Parliament building under your leadership as Speaker is truly heartbreaking for me as a minority member of this great nation and an elected Member of Parliament as well,”

Taking note of the situation, Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and the Prime Ministerial candidate met with Danish Ali and showed his support. Danish Ali too to twitter to express his gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for the visit paid on twitter.
