Madhya Pradesh Candidates

The BJP has nominated Union Minister L Murugan, Maya Narollya, Bansilal Gurjar, and Umesh Nath Maharai to contest from Madhya Pradesh.

Odisha Representative

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to contest from Odisha, with expectations of support from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal Nominees

Earlier announcements included Dharmsheela Gupta and Bhim Singh for Bihar, Raja Devendra Pratap Singh for Chhattisgarh, Subhash Barala for Haryana, Narayana Krishanasa Bhandage for Karnataka, Mahendra Bhatt for Uttarakhand, and Samik Bhattacharya for West Bengal.

Uttar Pradesh Contenders

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has fielded RPN Singh, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, Sadhna Singh, Amarpal Maurya, Sangita Balwant, and Navin Jain for the Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections.

Upcoming Retirements in Rajya Sabha

A total of 58 Rajya Sabha members, including notable figures such as eight Central Ministers, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and BJP national President JP Nadda, are set to retire by early May this year.

Ministerial Retirements

The eight ministers retiring include Mansukh Mandaviya, Bhupender Yadav, Parshottam Rupala, Dharmendra Pradhan, V Murleedharan, Narayan Rane, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, with their retirement dates falling between April 2-3.

Party-wise Retirements

Among the retiring members are 28 from the BJP, 11 from Congress, four from Trinamool Congress, four from Bharat Rashtra Samithi, two each from Biju Janata Dal, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Janata Dal (United), and one each from YSRCP, Shiv Sena, NCP, Telugu Desam Party, and Sikkim Democratic Front.

Notable Leaders Retiring

Leaders such as Samajwadi Party's Jaya Bachchan, BJP's Anil Baluni and Prakash Javadekar, and BJD's Amar Patnaik are also among those retiring from the Rajya Sabha.

The outcome of the upcoming general elections will significantly impact the representation of each party in the Upper House during the next Lok Sabha term. Currently, the BJP holds 93 seats in the Rajya Sabha, Congress has 30, Trinamool Congress has 13, and there are six nominated members in a house of 239 with six vacancies.
