BSF Jawan on Poll duty Killed in Chhattisgarh
In a tragic incident on November 5, Sunday, A BSF Jawan was killed in a grenade explosion in Chhattisgarh. The grenade was in possession of the Jawan when it accidentally exploded. This incident took place in Dantewada district, police said on Sunda.
The BSF Jawan was identified as Balbeer Chand who was a native of Himachal Pradesh.
"A BSF company was stationed for the assembly elections near the Dantewada district police station. The company had decided to go out for a patrol search when suddenly a hand grenade kept in touch in the pouch worn by Head Constable Balbir Chand exploded," said an official.
According to the police, the deceased police personnel was immediately taken to hospital for treatment but could not stand the injuries.
"He was injured and was immediately brought by ambulance to Dantewada DIstrict Hospital for treatment. After being checked by the doctors, it was found that the BSF jawan had died," said an official.
The investigation is underway. Chhatisgarh elections are scheduled to be held in two phases, on November 7 and November 17. Poling for 20 seats will be done on the first date and the rest of the 70 seats will go into elections during the second day.
