Bus crash in Brazil claims the lives of 7 football fans and leaves numerous others injured
Over 40 supporters of the Corinthians football club from Sao Paulo were aboard a bus, journeying back from a match in Belo Horizonte the previous night, when tragedy struck. In southeastern Brazil, at least seven individuals lost their lives, and 27 others were admitted to hospitals on Sunday due to a bus accident caused by the driver's loss of control on a winding road.
The incident happened near Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais. Passengers who spoke to the G1 news website revealed that the driver shouted about brake failure just before the bus veered out of control.
The bus carried more than 40 Corinthians fans returning from a match in Belo Horizonte. Lieutenant Fernando Frois of the Minas Gerais firefighters shared the number of casualties but refrained from giving information about the condition of those who were taken to hospitals.
The National Agency of Land Transportation (ANTT) stated that the bus was not registered and lacked authorization for interstate passenger transport. Condolences poured in from football clubs throughout Brazil and the Brazilian Football Confederation, expressing sympathy to the victims' families and friends.
