Central Agency NIA attacked in West Bengal: BJP questioned TMC's intention for protesting against NIA
Central Agency NIA attacked in West Bengal: The politics of West Bengal has been revolving around central agencies investigating cases in the state regarding various issues. The ruling party of West Bengal, TMC has been accusing the BJP led central government for using central agencies such as ED and NIA for their political motives. On the other side, BJP has been countering by saying that TMC is saying such things out of fear since there corruption and scams are getting unearthed.
Recently, a NIA team went to investigate a case in W. Bengal when it was attacked. The team was investigation the 2022 bomb blast case in which it arrested a TMC leader in connection with the bomb blast which killed 3 people. The NIA team was conducting a raid in West Bengal's East Midnapore district.
Central Agency NIA attacked
The central agency NIA went to arrest 2 suspects in the 2022 Purba Medinipur district case when it was attacked by a mob injuring one of the officers. After the attack, NIA filled a complaint regarding the attack in Bhupatinagar.
The NIA team went to arrest two suspects of the bomb blast, Manobrata Jana and Bailicharan Maity who are also TMC workers. The family of Manobrata Jana accused the agency for molesting the family members of the TMC worker.
The Bengal police lodged an FIR against one of the NIA officials on grounds of assaulting women. The central agency moved to Calcutta High Court to seek dismissal of the FIR filled against the officer.
BJP questioning TMC
TMC delegation were protesting in the national capital for the removal of chiefs of 4 central agency ED, CBI, Income Tax and NIA at the Mandir Marg police station in Delhi.

When asked about the death of democracy slogan being raised by TMC, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said "Death of democracy happens when an ED team goes to nab corrupts and gets attacked in broad daylight; death of democracy happens when an NIA team gets attacked during the investigation in a terror case...So, these are the definitions of the 'death of democracy' and I am not saying this, the Congress leader Chowdhury Adhir Ranjan Choudhury, who is part of INDI Alliance has stated....The question should be what is TMC protesting against? the action has been taken against corrupt, terrorists and anti-national elements, why is TMC going and protesting for them?..."
