Chandrayaan-3 launched on time from Sriharikota's Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

India’s third lunar
exploration mission, named Chandrayaan-3, successfully launched on time from
the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. India will
become the fourth nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon thanks
to this mission, which will also showcase the country’s capability for a gentle
landing on the lunar surface.

A GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3)
heavy-lift launch vehicle was used to send the spacecraft into orbit.

The spacecraft will
leave Earth for the moon on August 23 and a touchdown on the lunar surface on
August 23. One lunar day is equivalent to about 14 Earth days, so after it
lands, it will run for that long. There are 14 Earth days for everyone on the
Moon.

After difficulties with
the soft landing of the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019, the Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) is attempting a follow-up mission.
