CM Arvind Kejriwal is currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail. In such a situation, the big question is who will hoist the flag in the Independence Day program organized by the Delhi government on 15th August. It was believed that Delhi Education Minister Atishi could hoist the flag. But LG VK Saxena has not approved his name. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

CM Arvind Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. ED had arrested him in March this year. However, the CM has got bail in the case related to ED. Before he could come out of jail, the investigating agency arrested him in a case going on under the Anti Corruption Act related to CBI. He has not been able to get bail yet in this case. Recently, in the same case, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has got bail from the Supreme Court.

The officers had shrugged off the hoisting of the flag

The General Administration Department of Delhi Government said on Tuesday that CM Arvind Kejriwal cannot authorize Delhi Minister Atishi to hoist the flag on his behalf. Minister of this department, Gopal Rai had instructed the department on Monday that as per the wish of the Chief Minister, arrangements should be made for hoisting the tricolor by Atishi. On the minister's letter Additional Chief Secretary of the Ministry Naveen Kumar Choudhary said that the Chief Minister's direction is 'illegal by law and cannot be implemented. The officer also said that the letter written by the Chief Minister to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on August 6 in this regard is not acceptable as per the prison rules.
