On the fourth day of his visit to Japan, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel held a roadshow in Tokyo where he spoke with well-known businesspeople and industrialists.

Purpose of CM's visit is to promote Japanese investors' participation in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit

A high-level Gujarati delegation, led by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, is currently at visit of Japan and Singapore for a week. This tour's main goal is to encourage Japanese investors and industrialists to actively participate in the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The summit, which Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inspired to be held in 2003, still promotes global cooperation and economic interaction.

More than 200 prominent Japanese businesspeople and industrialists were exposed to Gujarat's inclusive development story and its position as a prototype state for India's advancement by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel during this roadshow.

He said that Japan is well-known throughout the world for both its ancient and modern cultures. Industrialist cooperation is essential to building this reputation. Humanity and modernity are shared by Japan and India. Gujarat, having become a model state for development and a policy-driven state, has not only raised the bar but also inspired pride.

CM Bhupendra Patel praised Gujarat's entrepreneurial spirit

Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stressed that Gujarat's entrepreneurial spirit and Japan's wealth of experience and capability, along with Gujarat's youthful talent and Japan's state-of-the-art technology, will combine to push the partnerships between Japan, India, and Gujarat to new levels.

Gujarat's leadership position in green growth

In response to the global challenge of climate change, India offered a roadmap for a greener and sustainable future, as demonstrated during the successful G20 presidency, according to Shri Bhupendra Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's team. In line with the Prime Minister's audacious goal of attaining a carbon-free net-zero economy by 2070, the Chief Minister reaffirmed Gujarat's leadership position in green growth.

The chief minister of Gujarat discussed the state's focus on forward-thinking development in industries such as semiconductors, green hydrogen, e-mobility, renewable energy, and international financial activities, with the goal of transforming India into Atmanirbhar, Viksit Bharat through Atmanirbhar Gujarat.

He said that Gujarat is prepared to lead in this newly emerging field through the upcoming Vibrant Summit, which will have the theme "Gateway to the Future."

Gujarat is known as a policy-driven state that takes a proactive and encouraging stance. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel extended an invitation to Japanese industrial investors to join the Vibrant Summit 2024.

Gujarat's development praised by officials of Japan

The director general of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Mr. Takehiko Furukawa, and executive vice president Mr. Kazuya Nakajo expressed gratitude for Gujarat's notable advancements and rise in stature within India. They emphasized Gujarat's crucial place in the international business ecosystem and commended Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership. Gujarat's development was primarily attributed by Mr. Furukawa to the double-engine government.

During a briefing regarding the success of working in Gujarat, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Executive Vice President of Suzuki, expressed his positive experience of the state and acknowledged the proactive approach taken by the Chief Minister and Prime Minister of Gujarat.

Mr. Ayukawa expressed the hope that Gujarat and Japan's partnership would be strengthened in the near future through productive mutual discussions.

Potential investment in steel production, logistics, and energy infrastructure

Mr. Kubota Keiji, Director of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, discussed the company's plans to increase its capacity in Gujarat by investing in steel production, logistics, and energy infrastructure. He highlighted the company's efforts to construct cutting-edge infrastructure.

Gujarat's potential and opportunities were discussed by Shri S.J. Haider, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Mines Department, Government of Gujarat.

Gujarat is a favorable location for investments

Strong cultural, social, and economic ties exist between India and Japan, and Gujarati ties in particular have fostered strong regional cooperation, according to India's ambassador to Japan, Shri Sibi George. According to him, ongoing efforts are being made to boost the number of Japanese businesses operating in India.

Shri Raj Kumar, the Chief Secretary of the Gujarati government, discussed the crucial role Gujarat plays in the robust and dynamic Indian economy.

He cited several instances of India-Japan collaboration, including the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail. He said that Gujarat offers many direct and indirect advantages in terms of business ease, good standard of living, and a diverse population.
