At the event held in Delhi, Kharge said that those who say that the Congress is finished should understand that the Congress may have less power, but its spine is still straight. Kharge further stated that the Congress party has never bargained for power, nor has it compromised on the Constitution, secularism, or the rights of the poor. Kharge said, "To those who say that the Congress is finished, I want to tell them that we may have less power, but our spine is still straight. We may not be in power, but we will not compromise. The Congress has never sought votes in the name of religion, nor has it spread hatred in the name of temples and mosques."

Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that the Congress works to unite, while the BJP practices divisive politics. The Congress has always kept religion confined to faith, but some people have made religion a weapon of politics. Kharge alleged that today the BJP has power, but not the truth. That is why sometimes figures are hidden, sometimes the census is stopped, and sometimes there is talk of changing the Constitution. He said that RSS-BJP leaders have always opposed the laws made for the progress of society and are working to crush the rights of the people.
