Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh  Chouhan has targeted the Congress party over its decision to decline the invitation to the Pran Pratistha of Ram Mandir.

Political storm

On January 10, Indian National Congress in a written statement announced their decision to not attend the Pran Pratistha of Ram Mandir. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra invited congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chaudhari for the Consecration ceremony of the idol of Ram Lalla.

The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla is scheduled to take place on January 22 in Ayodhya. Thousands of people will attend the historic event.

Congress declined the invitation means declining India's identity

Shivraj Singh Chouhan called out Congress for not respecting the identity of India which is based on Ram. He also blamed these kinds of decisions of Congress for their current position in terms of numbers in Parliament. He said "Ram is our Lord. He represents the soul and the identity of Bharat. The turning down of the invitation to the Pran Pratishtha by the Congress is a rejection of India's identity and culture. It is because of such positions that the Congress takes that it has been reduced to the margins today,"

Union Minister Smriti Irani also condemed Congress for their decision calling them Anti ram. She said "Congress party's anti-Lord Ram face is before the nation. It is no surprise that under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, the party that had filed an affidavit before the court that Lord Ram is a fictional character, its leadership declined the invitation to the 'pran-pratishtha' of Ram Temple."

Irani further said "Under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Congress, INDI Alliance has insulted 'Sanatana Dharma' again and again. Now, the declining of the invitation to the 'pran-pratishtha' by leaders of the INDI Alliance reflects their anti-Sanatana mindset."

Congress called Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha a BJP event

In an official statement, the national party Congress labeled the grand event of Pran Pratistha as a BJP/RSS event. The statement read "Last month, the Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and the Leader of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury received an invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya to be held on January 22nd, 2024."

It further said "Lord Ram is worshipped by millions in our country. Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS/BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya. The inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has been obviously brought forward for electoral gain. While abiding by the 2019 Supreme Court judgment and honoring the sentiments of millions who revere Lord Ram, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation to what is clearly an RSS/BJP event."
