Over 60 people have died in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as a result of the relentless rain that caused landslides, cloudbursts, and traffic jams, while efforts to rescue injured people and vehicles from under the rubble continue.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Himachal Pradesh will likely continue to have isolated but significant rainfall over the next two days, as well as Uttarakhand and northeast India over the following four to five days.

Tuesday saw the Yamuna River in Delhi cross the danger line for the second time this year as a result of the significant rainfall.

The major updates are as follows:

  • Near the Pong Dam in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra, more than 800 people have been evacuated. The ongoing downpour caused the water level in the Dam to rise, which prompted the evacuation process.

  •  Late on Tuesday night, a structure collapsed in Helang near Joshimath in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, leaving one person dead and five others in need of rescue. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reported that after recovering one body from the rubble, they were still looking for a second individual who might be trapped beneath the debris.

  • In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, a number of structures, including homes and a slaughterhouse, collapsed on Tuesday as a result of a landslide brought on by persistent rain, leaving an estimated five to ten persons trapped. Locals were relocated to a safer region.

  • Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, met with the High Power Committee on Tuesday to discuss managing natural disasters. He claimed that the state as a whole has suffered significant damage as a result of a 157% increase in rainfall over the previous four days.
  • While the tragedy caused the deaths of nearly 60 persons in Himachal
