On Sunday, the previously severe cyclonic storm known as
Biparjoy evolved into an extremely severe cyclonic storm while it was located
over the east-central Arabian Sea. As a direct result of this, the IMD has
issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane for the day of Monday, which
indicates strong winds in a few specific locations. There were reports of roofs
blown off of some homes in slum colonies as a result of the severe winds that
blew across portions of the city throughout the course of the weekend.
Officials from the IMD noted that this was to be expected owing to the impact of
the storm.

11:50 am: In anticipation of Biparjoy’s landfall, fishing has been halted and people along the Gujarat coast have begun to evacuate.

The fishing activities around Gujarat’s south and north
shores have been banned, and authorities have begun evacuating people in
districts along the sea in anticipation of cyclone ‘Biporjoy,’ which is
expected to make landfall along the Saurashtra-Kutch coasts as a very severe
cyclonic storm, according to officials who spoke on Monday.  In this regard, officials in the coastal
region of Devbhumi Dwarka have stated that over 1,300 people have been
relocated to safer areas as of right now.

11:55 am: The latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that by noon on June 15, an “extremely severe cyclonic storm” with maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kilometers per hour (kmph) gusting to 150 kmph would have crossed Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan).
11:56 am: The Kutch district administration has implemented Section 144 in the districts that are close to the coastline. This section makes it illegal for individuals to move near the shoreline, and it also makes it illegal to let animals loose in these places.
12:20 pm: Okha port in Gujarat has raised the red flag of extreme danger as Cyclone Biparjoy approaches.
12:30 pm: Cyclone Biparjoy could bring some light rain to Ahmedabad today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that it will rain or thunder in several parts of Ahmedabad on Monday. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast for a number of additional districts, including Gandhinagar, Anand, Kutch, and all districts in south Gujarat and Saurashtra.
12:40 pm: Teams are preventing casualties. All coastal settlements are on notice, and beaches and temples are closed. Cyclone Biparjoy may hit Mandvi and Karachi beaches.

Stormy weather with wind speeds of 125-135 kmph, increasing up to 145 kmph, is forecast for the morning of June 15 and the evening of the same day in the regions of Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh, and Morbi, according to a presentation given during a review meeting.
3:20 pm: Dwarka, all of Kutch’s ports, and the coasts of Devbhumi Dwarka and Jamnagar have experienced waves as high as 25 feet.

3:30 pm: All Rajkot Municipal Corporation amenities, including the Pradhyuman Park Zoo, gardens, gym, swimming pool, and sports complex, will be closed on June 14 and 15. As the cyclone is expected to hit Rajkot, RMC has established a 24-hour control room.
3:50 pm: All districts have been issued an Orange alert for June 14 and a Red alert for June 15. Beginning on June 15, it will make landfall and move towards the north-northeast (NNE). We encourage individuals to remain in secure locations: Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, director general of the IMD.
3:55 pm: Cyclone Biparjoy is now traveling in a northerly direction at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour and is expected to change direction after June 14th.
4:15 pm: Around 7,500 people in Gujarat have taken shelter as Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall near the city of Jakhau Port on June 15.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Monday that Cyclone “Biparjoy” will make landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat’s Kutch region on Thursday afternoon as a “very severe cyclonic storm” with maximum wind speed of up to 150 km per hour. Authorities have reportedly begun evacuating people living near the water in the coastal districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi, and have banned fishing activity and raised warning signals at ports.
4:30 pm: Mumbai’s Girgaon Chowpatty seems deserted as the cyclone blows through.
4:55 pm: The districts of Mandvi and Jakhau in Kutch have received NDRF and SDRF teams, respectively.
5:40 pm: The National Crisis Management Committee was updated by Gujarat’s chief secretary on the local government’s preparations for the cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’. 21,000 boats have been stored. Evacuation preparations include a list of susceptible villages. The state will deploy 10 SDRF teams.
5:45 pm: Before cyclone Biparjoy’s Monday landfall, Gujarat chief secretary Raj Kumar reviewed coastal preparations. The state relief commissioner, Alok Kumar Pandey, said the state has 12 NDRF and SDRF teams. 24,000 coastal boats are moved to safer locations. 
First, residents within 5 km of the coast would be relocated. The 5–10 km residents would be relocated soon. Pandey stated the entire area between Mandvi and Jakhau would be evacuated owing to the landing. Schools and government agencies are preparing shelters and food packs. Vehicles will be stopped when wind speeds exceed 60 kmph.
6:30 pm: Biparjoy Cyclone is expected to bring rain to most of northwest India, including Delhi.

7:45 pm: As a result of the cyclone, 56 trains were cancelled today in the parts of Gujarat that were hit by Biparjoy, and another 95 trains would be suspended from tomorrow till June 15th: Western Railway.

8:30pm: As a safety measure, the NDRF has sent two more teams to Mumbai.

8:45 pm: Since Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in Kutch, Mumbai’s Girguam Chowpatty beach has been closed to the public since Monday.

9:10 pm: On Monday, railway authorities said Cyclone Biparjoy, which is expected to hit Gujarat this week, has activated their disaster management system. Bhavnagar, Mahuva, Veraval to Porbandar, Okha to Hapa, and Gandhidham are critical railway sections.
