Cyclone Biparjoy Live Updates: Mumbai and Gujarat are on high alert as Prime Minister Modi conducts a meeting to assess the situation.

As a direct result of this, the IMD has<br /> issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane for the day of Monday, which<br /> indicates strong winds in a few specific locations. On Sunday, the previously severe cyclonic storm known as
Biparjoy evolved into an extremely severe cyclonic storm while it was located
over the east-central Arabian Sea. As a direct result of this, the IMD has
issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane for the day of Monday, which
indicates strong winds in a few specific locations. There were reports of roofs
blown off of some homes in slum colonies as a result of the severe winds that
blew across portions of the city throughout the course of the weekend.

11:50 am: In anticipation of Biparjoy’s landfall, fishing has been halted and people along the Gujarat coast have begun to evacuate.

The fishing activities around Gujarat’s south and north
shores have been banned, and authorities have begun evacuating people in
districts along the sea in anticipation of cyclone ‘Biporjoy,’ which is
expected to make landfall along the Saurashtra-Kutch coasts as a very severe
cyclonic storm, according to officials who spoke on Monday.  In this regard, officials in the coastal
region of Devbhumi Dwarka have stated that over 1,300 people have been
relocated to safer areas as of right now.

11:55 am: The latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that by noon on June 15, an “extremely severe cyclonic storm” with maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kilometers per hour (kmph) gusting to 150 kmph would have crossed Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan).
11:56 am: The Kutch district administration has implemented Section 144 in the districts that are close to the coastline. This section makes it illegal for individuals to move near the shoreline, and it also makes it illegal to let animals loose in these places.
12:20 pm: Okha port in Gujarat has raised the red flag of extreme danger as Cyclone Biparjoy approaches.
12:30 pm: Cyclone Biparjoy could bring some light rain to Ahmedabad today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that it will rain or thunder in several parts of Ahmedabad on Monday. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast for a number of additional districts, including Gandhinagar, Anand, Kutch, and all districts in south Gujarat and Saurashtra.
12:40 pm: Teams are preventing casualties. All coastal settlements are on notice, and beaches and temples are closed. Cyclone Biparjoy may hit Mandvi and Karachi beaches.
