Due to the heavy downpour brought on by the severe cyclonic storm Michaung, daily life in Chennai is being disrupted. The administration has made the decision to keep the Chennai airport closed until 11:30 PM on Monday due to the severe winds and prolonged period of rain.

10 Flights being cancelled and 20 being delayed

Due to the heavy rain that started at midnight, Cyclone Michaung also caused several flight disruptions, with 10 flights being canceled and 20 being delayed.

Although there is no disruption to normal airport operations, travelers are asked by the airlines to verify the status of their flight before departing from their residence.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Michaung is predicted to pass over the coast of South Andhra Pradesh on Monday between Nellore and Machilipatnam (IMD). The strong cyclonic storm is predicted to maintain winds of 80–90 kmph, with the potential to reach 100 kmph in certain areas.

Numerous areas of Tamil Nadu experienced waterlogging due to the state's heavy rainfall in the coastal region. Since midnight, there have been heavy rains in coastal areas like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu. As a result, numerous flights and trains have been disrupted.

Public holiday declared in several areas in Chennai

At least 14 subways in Chennai are closed as a result of the waterlogging, and local subway train service is suspended. A public holiday is scheduled for Monday in several areas of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram, according to the administration.

Team has evacuated 7000 people in Andhra Pradesh

States like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are likewise preparing for the effects of Cyclone Michaung. Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have evacuated about 7,000 people from eight coastal districts, and plans are underway to evacuate 28,000 people in total.
