BSF Jawan martyred on duty during Chhattisgarh election polling
In a tragic incident on November 8, Wednesday, a BSF Jawan lost his life while he was on duty in Chhattisgarh. A soldier named Prakash died after a landmine explosion.
Death on Duty
The first phase of polling for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh took place on November 7, Tuesday. Prakash along with other soldiers was deployed on the spot to provide security to the polling party.
A landmine explosion in the Rengabai forest of Kanger District of Malkangiri border areas caused the death of the soldier. Prakash was severely injured in the explosion and was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The injured soldier was taken to a hospital in Raipur where he died during treatment.
The soldier belonged to Gopalpur village of Bahanga block of Baleshwar district in Orrisa. He became a victim of the landmine which was laid by Naxalities. Prakash Chandra Siyal was from was from Cobra 206 battalion of Border Security Force. He was severely injured as both his legs were severely wounded.
According to reports, polling was taking place in Chhatisgarh when Prakash along with other soldiers went to provide security for polling.
Four other soldiers were seriously injured by the blast and they were admitted to the hospital and their treatment is going on.
