DRDO successfully tested Very Short Range Air Defence System
Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has once again proved India's strength to the world. DRDO successfully test-fired a very short-range air defence system from Chandipur, Odisha. The tests were conducted on February 28 and 29. According to information, two tests were conducted with ground-based portable launchers.
DRDO in the a post on X said "Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile was successfully tested against high speed unmanned aerial targets under different interception scenarios on 28th and 29th Feb 2024 off the coast of Odisha"
The Defense Ministry said both test flights met the mission objectives and were intercepted and destroyed by the missiles. Let us tell you that the missile is powered by a dual thrust solid motor and its objective is to intercept and destroy low altitude air threats.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and Indian Army for the successful test. He said that this new missile equipped with modern technology will strengthen the armed forces and also increase our strength. Let us tell you that Very Short Range Air Defense System is a man portable air defence system, which is completely indigenously designed.
What is special?
The Short Range Air Defense System (VSHORADS) is a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPAD), indigenously designed and developed by RCI in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The missile incorporates a number of innovative technologies, including the Short Reaction Control System (RCS) and integrated avionics, which were successfully proven during trials.
