According to the Defense Minister Richard Marles the helicopter was ditched in the water off the country's northeast coast on Saturday.

The helicopter, MRH-90 Taipan ,crashed late at Friday night during the aircrew's were taking part in the 30,000 strong Talisman Sabre drill, which is a biennial U.S.- Australia military exercise promoting cooperation and interoperability.

Marles said, "As we speak to you now, the four aircrew are yet to be found. We desperately hope for better news during the course of this day."
There has been an announcement by the defense officials that there will be a pause in the Talisman Sabre exercise including soldiers from Japan, France, Germany and South Korea.

It been two weeks since the beginning of the exercise and testing large-scale logistics, ambitious landing, air operations and land combat. Australia has been trying to make efforts to keep up with their foes such as China which is nearly at an arm's length. The armed forces are working fiercely on their long-strike capabilities.
